My good friend Jami (who’s an esthetician) recently introduced me to my other good friend, Bare Minerals. I now do not know what I would do without them. I absolutely love this makeup.

I’ve seen them on QVC and HSN before, but I’m the type of girl who likes FULL coverage to hide any unsightly thing on my face, because no matter how microscopic, I’m convinced it’s like a blinking banner to the world.

But I was also sick of looking in the mirror and realizing that I looked like one of those pasty people who put their makeup on with a spatula in a shade far too dark for their skin. Jami always looks so natural and so beautiful (and while a lot of that is due to the fact that she is naturally beautiful) I thought I would give it a try and see what her makeup could do for me. I ordered a starter kit from Sephora.com and waited for the weekend so I’d have plenty of time to learn to use it. The first day I tried it I wasn’t sure. I felt like I couldn’t get the hang of how much to put on, and I felt like I was still too cakey. But a few days later I figured it out, and now you can frequently hear me telling Aaron when I’m getting ready “I love my BareMinerals so much!” And he’s rolling his eyes in the other room, “That’s great hon, you do look very nice.”

Our husbands also laugh at us because we seem to talk about makeup every time we’re together now, and one time we were even caught in the bathroom trying out makeup like we were 13 again! Hey, we’re excited about having great skin and feeling good about our faces again - can you blame us?

They are very easy to put on, give you a light and natural feeling and stay on far better than regular makeup. I also love the fact that if we’re going away at night, or I need to fix my makeup, I don’t have to wash my old makeup off and start over like I used to. Now I just add a little of this and that and it takes me only 5 minutes and I’m ready to go again! Also, the concealer brush is great - you can use the same foundation as concealer, or a “bisque” they sell works great too. I have never seen anything cover zits or other blemishes as well as this. It’s really amazing.

BareMinerals is a little more expensive than the regulars, but it’s sooo worth it. Also, I’ve found that Sephora has the lowest prices on it, plus you get free shipping if you spend over $75, and tons of free samples and goodies.

Obviously, BareEscentuals is not paying me to blog about this (although if you’re reading this Leslie Blodgett, I would not scoff at any products sent my way…). I just wanted to share a product that I’ve really fallen in love with.

bareMinerals All-Over Face Color

Sooo… I’m looking for some kind of sheer powder to put over my makeup in the morning that will help set my makeup in place as well as add a little color to my face (but just a little!!). I’m VERY fair-skinned, kind of a warm yellow-ish tint to it. Light freckles, light brown hair… And a lot of oil on my nose/forehead.

I was thinking about bareMinerals All-Over Face Color, but then I have NO idea what color to try. I have to buy it online because there are no stores around here, I just moved to the middle of nowhere :/

So can anyone suggest a good such powder that won’t add too much color to my face? I’d like a little glow, but it can’t be too much or my face will look different from my shoulders. This has happened before, it’s not pretty :/ Similarly, I don’t like a lot of shimmer. Are the bareMinerals “Radiances” shimmery? I can’t tell from the photos.

I was thinking that Clear Radiance might be best, but I’ve also heard good things about Rose and Tropical (Tropical probably being better for my skin tone). But maybe True would be better so I don’t put on too much… Errr… Maybe I should get a different brand entirely? XD Am I even on the right track for the kind of product I’m looking for? I’m worried because my skin is oily, too, and powders don’t usually agree with it.

Also the seasons are changing, and I want to get something appropriate for Fall/Winter so that I can wear it now.

I used to use the Victoria’s Secret sheer pressed powder, but it was really expensive and packed down into the compact really fast so I couldn’t use it anymore. Lame, because I liked how it was on my face :/
